# Change, cancel or manage your plan

> Upgrade, downgrade or cancel your plan, update your card and invoices, and get help with a charge.

You manage your Newly v2 plan in **Billing**, at app.newly.app or in Newly for Mac. Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and select **Billing**.

Only organization owners and admins can change or cancel a plan, or open **Manage billing**. Members can see the balance and payment history, along with "Ask an admin or owner of your organization to add credit. Only they can manage billing."

## Upgrade your plan

<Steps>
  <Step title="Pick a bigger plan">
    In **Billing**, on the **Plans** tab, select the plan you want.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the charge">
    Select **Change plan**. Then select **Confirm, charge up to \$X**, where X is the most you'll be charged now. Select **Not now** to back out.
  </Step>
</Steps>

The difference is charged now and the extra credits are added straight away. You see "Plan upgraded. The difference has been charged and added to your balance."

## Downgrade your plan

Select a smaller plan on the **Plans** tab, then select **Change plan**. The change applies from your next renewal, and the current month isn't affected. You see "Plan changed. It applies from your next renewal; this month is untouched."

## Switch between monthly and annual

* **Monthly to annual:** set **Billing cycle** to **Yearly**, select **Change plan** and confirm the charge. The year is charged now, less credit for the rest of the current month. Your credits still arrive monthly.
* **Annual to monthly:** you can't switch in the app. Cancel your annual plan and start a monthly plan after the year ends, or contact support.

## Cancel your plan

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Subscription section">
    In **Billing**, scroll to **Subscription**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select Cancel subscription">
    A dialog titled "Cancel your plan?" shows the date your plan stays active until.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm">
    Select **Cancel plan**. Nothing is charged again. To keep your plan, select **Keep my plan** instead.
  </Step>
</Steps>

After you cancel:

* Your plan stays active until the end of the current billing period, then stops renewing.
* To undo the cancellation before then, select **Resume subscription**.
* Top-up credits stay usable until they expire, and credits from Newly never expire.

<Warning>
  Deleting your account doesn't cancel your plan. Cancel your plan first. See [Delete a chat, project or account](/account/delete).
</Warning>

## Update your card, billing details and invoices

In **Billing**, open **Payment method & history** and select **Manage billing**. If you don't have a card on file yet, the button reads **Add a card**.

The payment page lets you:

* update your card
* change your billing address, email, name and tax ID
* see your invoices

You can't cancel or change your plan on the payment page. Use **Billing** in the app for that.

## Plans granted by Newly

If Newly granted your plan, it ends on its own, and you can't cancel or change it in **Billing**. To change it, contact support.

If you buy a plan, it replaces the granted plan from that day, and any time left on the granted plan is lost. Credits the granted plan already added stay until they expire. See [Plans and top-ups](/billing/plans-and-top-ups#credits-from-newly).

## Newly v1 subscriptions

A subscription to Newly v1 (legacy) is separate from Newly v2. **Billing** doesn't change or cancel it. To cancel a Newly v1 subscription, contact support. If you try it from **Billing**, you see "This subscription is managed elsewhere. Contact support to cancel it."

Not sure which product you're using? See [Which Newly am I using?](/get-started/which-newly).

## A charge you don't recognize, or a refund question

There's no refund button in the app.

1. Check whether the charge is for Newly v1 or Newly v2. They're billed separately, so you can have a charge from each.
2. Contact support with the date and amount of the charge. See [Getting help](/help/getting-help).
