There are two Newly products. Newly v2, at app.newly.app and in Newly for Mac, is the one these docs cover. Newly v1 (legacy) is the classic builder at newly.app. They look different, and they keep separate accounts, projects and billing.

How to tell them apart

Other signs you’re in Newly v2: the prompt box has a Build / Plan / Ask mode switch. When you start a new chat, a Remote label sits under the prompt box (in the web app), or a Remote / Local menu (in the Mac app). If your projects open at newly.app/project/… or you scan a QR code to preview, you’re on Newly v1. Use the v1 (legacy) docs.

How newly.app decides where you sign in

When you sign up or log in on newly.app, Newly looks at your email address first.
  • Your email already has a Newly v1 account. You finish signing in to Newly v1. On the sign-up form you see “Welcome back” and “You already have a Newly account.”
  • Any other email. You get a code, and you land on app.newly.app already signed in to Newly v2.
The Continue with Google and Continue with GitHub buttons on newly.app follow the same rule. If the Google or GitHub email belongs to a Newly v1 account, you see “Welcome back to Newly” and “Taking you to your projects”, and you’re taken to Newly v1.

Going straight to app.newly.app or the Mac app

If you open app.newly.app or Newly for Mac and sign in there, you always get a Newly v2 account. That’s true even if you’re a Newly v1 customer. Your Newly v2 account starts empty. If you’re a Newly v1 customer and want to use Newly v2, sign in at app.newly.app or in the Mac app. Signing in on newly.app takes you back to Newly v1. Signing out of the web app takes you back to newly.app. See Sign up and sign in for the sign-in methods.

Your v1 and v2 accounts are separate

Newly v1 and v2 are separate, even when you use the same email address for both.
  • Projects. Your Newly v1 projects don’t appear in Newly v2, and there’s no way to move them into Newly v2 today.
  • Credits. Credits in one product can’t be spent in the other.
  • Subscriptions. A Newly v1 subscription doesn’t give you Newly v2 credits, and a Newly v2 plan doesn’t change your Newly v1 subscription.
If you signed in and your project list is empty, check the address bar. On app.newly.app you’re in Newly v2, where your Newly v1 projects don’t appear. Your Newly v1 projects are still in Newly v1 at newly.app.

If you pay for both

You can have a Newly v1 subscription and a Newly v2 plan at the same time. They are two separate charges.
  • To cancel your Newly v2 plan, an organization owner or admin uses Billing in the web app or the Mac app. If Newly gave you your plan, contact support to change it. See Change, cancel or manage your plan.
  • To cancel your Newly v1 subscription, follow Cancel your subscription in the v1 (legacy) docs. The Newly v2 Billing panel can’t cancel it.
