Newly v2, at app.newly.app and in Newly for Mac, builds your iOS app and uploads it to App Store Connect. Everything after the upload happens in App Store Connect, under your Apple account. Newly doesn’t submit your app for review. If you haven’t uploaded a build yet, start with Ship your iOS app to TestFlight.

After the upload

When the Ship to TestFlight card shows ”✓ Uploaded to TestFlight”, press Open App Store Connect. The card also reminds you that Apple may still be processing the build. Then:
1

Wait for Apple to process the build

Apple processes each new build before anyone can install it. Check the build’s status in App Store Connect.
2

Answer the encryption question if asked

App Store Connect may ask whether your app uses encryption (export compliance) before testers can install the build. Answer it in App Store Connect.
3

Add testers

In the app’s TestFlight section, add internal testers from your App Store Connect team, or create an external group and invite people by email. Apple reviews a build before external testers can install it. Testers install your app with Apple’s TestFlight app on their iPhone.
4

Complete your App Store listing

In App Store Connect, fill in the app description, keywords, screenshots, age rating and App Privacy details.
5

Submit for review

Choose the build for your version and submit it for review in App Store Connect. Apple reviews the app, and the result shows in App Store Connect.

How the agent can help

The agent can’t press buttons in App Store Connect for you, but it can help you get ready:
  • Readiness checklist. Ask “check if my app is ready for the App Store”. The agent checks your project against a store readiness checklist and shows the results in the chat, such as a missing app description, privacy policy URL, screenshots, permission descriptions or encryption compliance. You still set the age rating and App Privacy details yourself in App Store Connect.
  • Listing copy. Ask for an app description, subtitle, promotional text or keywords, and paste the result into App Store Connect.
  • Rejections. If Apple rejects your app, paste the rejection message into the chat. The agent can explain it and change your code to address it. Then upload a new build and reply to Apple in App Store Connect.
In a Remote chat, each of these is a normal Newly Agent turn, so it uses credits. See How credits work.

Screenshots for your listing

  • From the cloud simulator: open your app in the cloud simulator, go to the screen you want, hover over the simulator to show its controls, and press Save screenshot to Downloads (the camera button). See Using the cloud simulators.
  • In Local chats (Mac): the agent can make styled store screenshot sets. AI-generated backgrounds need your own OpenAI API key; without one, the sets use a plain gradient. See Local chats on your Mac.
Check Apple’s current screenshot size requirements before you upload.

Google Play

Newly v2 doesn’t produce Android release builds (APK or AAB), signing keys or Google Play uploads. You can test the Android version of your app on the Android cloud simulator (“Pixel 8 - Android”), but you can’t install it on a phone or publish it from Newly v2. If the agent says Android publishing is available somewhere in Newly, it isn’t.
Android signing keys you created in Newly v1 (legacy) stay with your Newly v1 project. Newly v1 and v2 are separate, and your v1 keys don’t move into v2. To check which product a project is in, see v1 vs v2: which one am I using?.
