A screenshot often explains a problem faster than a paragraph. You can attach images and other files to any message.

Attach a file

Use any of these:
  • + menu: click + in the prompt box, then Files & Images, and choose one or more files.
  • Paste: copy an image or take a screenshot, then paste it into the prompt box.
  • Drag and drop: drag files anywhere onto the window. You’ll see “Drop files and images here”.
You can attach several files to one message.

Supported image formats

Images must be PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF. If you attach another image type, such as a HEIC photo, you see a message that names your file, for example: “photo.heic is not a supported image. Use PNG, JPG, WebP, or GIF.”
iPhone photos are often HEIC. Convert them to JPG or PNG first, or take a screenshot of the photo and paste that.

Size limits

In Remote chats: If an upload fails for any reason, including a file that’s too large or a chat that’s over its limit, you see the same message: “Could not upload the attached file. Try pasting it again.” If trying again doesn’t help, check the file size. Make a large screenshot smaller, or crop it to the part that matters. If the chat has reached its limit, start a new chat.

What the agent does with attachments

In Remote chats, attached files are saved into your project so the agent can open and read them while it works. In a long chat, the agent can only see the most recent images, about the last 30. That count includes screenshots the agent takes itself while it checks your app. If an early screenshot still matters, attach it again with your new message.

Voice input

On Mac: Newly for Mac can turn your voice into a message, in both Remote and Local chats. Voice input isn’t available in the web app.
1

Start recording

Make sure the prompt box is empty and the agent isn’t working. The send button then shows a microphone. Click it and speak.
2

Stop and listen back

Click the check mark to stop recording. You can play the recording back, or click the X to discard it.
3

Send

Click the check mark again. The Mac app turns your recording into text and sends it to the agent as a normal message.
